Principal's Message
Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,
On behalf of our school community and proud members, welcome to the start of the new academic year at Century Academy! Whether you are joining us for the first time, transitioning from another school, or are returning to tackle your final year as a Senior, we are thrilled to have you as part of our amazing and unique community.
At Century Academy, we don't just educate—we partner with students and parents to create a truly dynamic and customized learning environment designed to prepare contributors to the complex, global community. Century Academy stands as an exemplary model of 21st-century education. Our mission is built on the foundation of meaningful relationships, rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning, and effective communication. We recognize that students learn in a variety of ways, which is why we blend learning modalities, including digital learning, small group instruction, and individual mentorship. This differentiated approach allows us to create customized learning plans for every student in grades 6-12, ensuring high academic achievement and nurturing their academic, cultural, and social-emotional needs. We are challenging ourselves to continuously evolve, empowering every student to responsibly participate in a world where technology, collaboration, and independence are essential for productivity.
Century Academy serves as the Conejo Valley Unified School District's alternative learning hub, and our commitment to individualized instruction extends across all grades. We proudly house the SHINE Homeschool Program, which offers a personalized learning model to students in grades TK-12. Through SHINE, credentialed teachers partner with families, providing essential support—from lesson planning, curriculum mapping, and weekly assignments, to grading and trimester assessments—ensuring that every student receives a customized, high-quality academic experience, even while learning at home.
Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to creating a supportive, challenging, and vibrant environment for all students. We encourage you to participate in our school wide events each year, such as Back-to-School Night and other community events that bring our families together. Please follow our school communications closely for specific schedule details and safety protocols.
I look forward to partnering with you for what promises to be an exceptional year of learning, growth, and achievement.
Warmly,
Brian Mercer, Principal Alternative Education, CVUSD
